Discover the Story Behind Wine Walkabout

A walkabout is a journey — an opportunity to explore, discover, and connect. At Wine Walkabout, wine is more than what’s in the glass. It’s about the people you share it with, the meal on the table, the place you’re in, and the memories you create along the way.

Wine Walkabout was created to make wine approachable, engaging, and fun for everyone —whether you’re just beginning your wine journey or looking to deepen your knowledge and experiences. Through classes, tastings, private events, winery itineraries, and wine-focused travel inspiration, Wine Walkabout helps guide you wherever your wine journey takes you.

From hosting a wine tasting with friends to planning a weekend winery escape to finally taking that dream trip to an incredible wine destination, Wine Walkabout is about learning through experience and enjoying every step along the way.

Meet the Founder

Michele Robbins is a certified Sommelier through the National Wine School and holds a Level 3 certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). She works at Grand Cata, a Latin American-focused wine bar and retail shop, where she shares her passion for wine, hospitality, and education.

A passionate traveler who has visited more than 50 countries, Michele believes the best way to learn about wine is through firsthand experience — tasting wines where they’re grown, meeting the people who make them, and experiencing the culture that surrounds them. Her wine travels span renowned regions such as Italy, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Chile, as well as emerging and lesser-known wine destinations including Croatia, Brazil, and Mexico.

Michele’s approach to wine is welcoming, curious, and down-to-earth. Whether she’s teaching a class, hosting a dinner party, helping guests discover a new favorite bottle, or recommending wineries around the world, her goal is always the same - to make wine feel accessible, memorable, and enjoyable for everyone.
